Week 1: Staying present and attuned during conversations

o Learn how to remain grounded, self-connected and curious during difficult conversations

o Notice nonverbal cues such as body language, tone and underlying emotions to increase understanding

o Be able to pause, slow down, and track the impact of what is being said to maintain connection

Week 2: Listening with Empathy

o Discover your default listening strategies and its effectiveness

o Practice listening for speaker’s emotions and underlying motivations, to increase connection.

o Improve your empathy skills by using techniques such as matching energy, paraphrasing, summarizing and guessing at speaker’s feelings and needs

Week 3: Asking for what you want

o Uncover what gets in the way of asking for what you want

o Practice formulating clear requests that are specific, doable, positively framed, and more likely to get what you want

o Learn how to transform “no” and “maybe” responses into a yes that works for both parties.

Week 4: Communicating effectively during conflicts.

o Staying self-connected: how to ask for a pause, conscientiously interrupt, and remain deactivated in heated discussions

o Transform judgements into clear objective observations to be better heard and understood by others

o Learn how to shift the conversation from the details of content to the essence of what matters

o Practice negotiating and collaborating to find a win-win strategy that meets everyone’s needs
