Using Mindfulness to Create Inclusive Generative Spaces

When we are able to come together as our full, engaged and unique self, in an environment that is safe, receptive and supportive; unimaginable experiences can emerge from the group! Differences in perspectives shift from being a problem to becoming  a rich source of learning and deeper understanding. Certainty melts away into curiosity. Issues become solvable puzzles that bring people more closely together. Individuals, motivated by shared values, become a single focused entity operating at a greater capacity. Collaboration can be a generative field where clarity,  insights and creative solutions arise. And in this emergence, each person is left feeling nourished, inspired and transformed by the collective process. This is the power of  inclusion.

This workshop will offer an introductory taste of what it is like to be immersed in a generative relational field. Through the use of interactive exercises, guided meditations and discussions, participants will learn about the conditions for creating these experiences. At the end of the session, there will be time to reflect on how to bring generative qualities  into the classroom and larger learning communities. The following themes will be explored:

  • Meditation as a restorative space to regain access to our full capacity

  • The conditions needed to foster  inclusive generative spaces

  • How unique differences are necessary for having  a more comprehensive understanding of reality

  • Why certainty or “right/wrong” thinking  interferes with clarity and creativity

  • How stories become reality with real physical and emotional impact on ourselves and others

  • The mind’s tendency for blame and othering

  • How mindfulness can be supportive in staying objective, engaged and curious

  • How to create generative relational fields in our personal lives and workplace
